While the City of Loveland has yet to receive any applications proposing data centers in our community, City leaders want to be prepared in case that changes. Next week, Loveland’s City Council will host the first in a proposed series of meetings to address data center impacts and outline a path forward to mitigate risks and protect community interests.   

The proposed series of meetings discussing data centers will begin Sept. 1, 2026, with a study session in Council Chambers at 500 E. Third St. The session will begin after the conclusion of a 6 p.m. City Council meeting that evening. The study session will be open to the public and broadcast on Loveland TV and lovgov.org/tv. The agenda for this meeting is posted on CivicWeb.  

The study session will cover foundational information about data centers and review Loveland’s existing policy. The study session is proposed to be followed by at least two more work sessions: one focused on development services and economic development on Oct. 27, and another, on Dec. 8, focused on data centers and utilities. 

Data centers are a topic of community interest nationwide. The City invites residents to attend or watch any of these meetings. Residents are also encouraged to continue visiting the City’s data center web page at go.lovgov.org/datacenters for answers to frequently asked questions, information about upcoming study sessions, a link to submit comments for councilors, and more. Video recordings of meetings focused on data centers will also be posted on the data center web page.
